Eight assaults by Russians occurred in the Kupiansk direction – General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russians did not attack in the Kharkiv direction.

The Russians attacked Ukrainian positions in the Kupiansk direction eight times. Ukrainian forces repelled assaults near Petropavlivka, Novoosynove, Kolesnykivka, Zahrizove, and Lozove.

Caught on a photo trap: two residents of Kharkiv region attempted to flee Ukraine

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported that two men wanted to illegally cross the border.

“The border guards' photo trap, set up in the area of the 'Krasnoilsk' department of the Chernivtsi border detachment, recorded the movement of two individuals near the state border with Romania. A response group was dispatched to intercept the violators,” the border guards stated.

Based on data obtained from UAV operators, the officers were able to quickly locate and detain the "travelers".

“During further investigation, the border guards learned that the men were residents of the Kharkiv region. They attempted to illegally enter Romania using an electronic map of the area,” the State Border Guard Service clarified.

Three medics injured: occupiers attack Kupiansk with drones

Oleg Synegubov, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration (OVA), reported that the occupiers are striking Kupiansk with UAVs.

Synegubov specified that currently, three individuals have been reported injured, all of whom are ambulance staff.

“A 43-year-old driver has been hospitalized with blast injuries. A 26-year-old doctor and a 41-year-old paramedic are experiencing acute stress reactions,” Synegubov wrote.

“The enemy hit an emergency medical vehicle with a loitering munition based on an FPV drone, and another civilian vehicle was also damaged,” the head of the OVA reported.

Ukrainian defenders reported on Russian losses in northern Kharkiv region over the past day

More than a hundred Russian occupiers were eliminated by Ukrainian defenders in the Kharkiv direction, according to the Kharkiv Operational Tactical Group.

“In the past day, there were seven combat clashes with Russian invaders near Volchansk and Starytsia. Russian occupiers launched 81 strikes with kamikaze drones and conducted 502 shelling of Ukrainian defenders' positions. The defense forces continue to effectively destroy the personnel, weaponry, and military equipment of the Russian occupiers,” the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.

Over the past day, the defense forces eliminated 123 soldiers of the Russian Armed Forces: 65 killed and 58 wounded. Additionally, in the Kharkiv direction, the Russians lost 73 units of weaponry and special equipment: two artillery systems, eight vehicles, 54 UAVs, as well as 81 shelters, a munitions storage site, and a drone launch pad.

In the Kharkiv Military Recruitment Center, a scheme for evaders was uncovered – State Bureau of Investigations

As reported by the State Bureau of Investigations, those wishing to avoid military service were offered to officially transfer their registration to a subordinate of the recruitment center, supposedly due to a change of residence.

“For this, it was not even necessary to visit the military enlistment office, as all documents were filled out without the 'client's' presence. Subsequently, the men were issued summonses each month, allowing them to move freely around the city,” the law enforcement officers explained.

For such a “service,” the conscript was required to pay 70,000 hryvnias, the State Bureau of Investigations added.

Currently, the law enforcement officers have detained the suspected intermediary, who was sent by the organizers of the scheme to collect money from another evader. He has been informed of the suspicion.

Furthermore, law enforcement is currently investigating the actions of the recruitment center staff, including the management level.

“Hunted” military and SBU employees: a couple from Kharkiv is suspected

According to the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, the suspects are residents of Kharkiv who are in a relationship. It has been established that the 24-year-old woman and the 38-year-old man have a criminal past.

“In December 2024, they established a permanent connection with a representative from the Russian Federation. They communicated through Telegram. The Russian curator offered the suspects a reward for recording the locations of Ukrainian military personnel and the residences of SBU employees, to which they willingly agreed,” the law enforcement officers reported.

The SBU added that the suspects roamed the streets of Kharkiv, secretly recording the positions of the Defense Forces, and then sent reports to the occupiers in the form of photos and geolocations of the targets.

The woman had another “job,” as noted by the prosecutor's office, she was placing “drops” with drugs around Kharkiv.

The young man and woman have been informed of suspicion. They are currently in custody without the right to bail.

Temperature record set in Kharkiv on January 28

On Tuesday, thermometers rose to 5.3 degrees Celsius. This is the highest temperature recorded in Kharkiv on January 28 throughout the history of meteorological observations, as reported by the Regional Center for Hydrometeorology.

The previous maximum temperature for this date had stood since 2021 when the air temperature in Kharkiv reached +4.7 degrees.
