A fire broke out in a five-story building in the Slobidskyi district of Kharkiv on Petya Hryhorenko Street at 8:05 PM.
According to reports from the regional State Emergency Service in Kharkiv Oblast, nine people were rescued from the flames, including two children aged seven and eleven.
“Rescue operations were carried out using a fire truck ladder and articulated lifts. One person was evacuated. Unfortunately, the fire resulted in the death of a 36-year-old man and injuries to nine people, including three children. The blaze started in an apartment on the fourth floor, where the man perished. The area affected by the fire was 50 square meters,” the State Emergency Service stated.
The fire was extinguished by 10:55 PM. A total of 23 rescuers were involved in the firefighting efforts, along with eight units of special equipment.
In total, throughout Kharkiv Oblast, State Emergency Service personnel extinguished six fires within a 24-hour period.
