A drunken resident of the city of Barvenkovo attempted to bribe the police but ended up facing charges for driving under the influence and offering a bribe, reported the National Police.
During a patrol in Barvenkovo, officers stopped a vehicle that was violating traffic rules. The car was being driven by a 59-year-old man who had been drinking. A medical examination revealed that his blood alcohol level was 1.89 promille.
In an effort to avoid a fine, the offender offered the officers a bribe of 15,000 hryvnias.
The driver was issued a protocol for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and was informed of the suspicion of bribing the police. For this, the driver faces up to four years in prison.
