The incident involving a drunk driver occurred the day before in Kharkiv around 11:00 PM, reports the regional patrol police department in Kharkiv Oblast.
While patrolling the Slobidsky district on Morozova Street, the officers noticed a Skoda vehicle that had crashed into a pole.
“Inspectors determined that the driver of the mentioned vehicle lost control and collided with an obstacle—a power pole—due to a failure to consider the road conditions and safe driving speed,” the law enforcement officials stated.
During their interaction with the driver, the patrol officers observed signs of alcohol intoxication and suggested he undergo a relevant test. However, the man refused—instead, he began to offer the officers a bribe to overlook the incident.
“To record the events of the incident, the patrol called in an investigative operational group. The inspectors drew up administrative protocols against the driver of the Skoda under Article 124 (Traffic violation leading to an accident) and Part 1 of Article 130 (Driving a vehicle while intoxicated) of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses,” the officers concluded.
